Overexertion
We've all done it... well in this case overdone it. We've picked something up that is too heavy, tried to move a little too fast, or even reached a little too far, and now we’re in pain. How can we reduce the risk of overexertion?
TIPS believes that it's essential to start with a solid foundation. Before we even begin the task at hand, we need to position our body correctly in order to use it correctly. A good key to remembering this is to start the muscles before the movement. If we engage the support muscles and fire up the muscles responsible for the motion, we take extra stress off of our joints and let the muscles do the work.
A lot of overexertion injuries happen at the beginning or end of the day. TIPS believes that participating in a thorough active warm up is a great way to reduce the risk of overexertion injuries. Stretching and keeping the body moving throughout the day will help keep the muscles warm and ready to work.
