Neck pain, elbow pain, wrist problems, pain in our feet… there are lots of areas of the body that can cause us problems. What can you do about it? Is it just old age? TIPS wants you to know that by taking a few simple steps, you can greatly reduce achy, stiff joints all over your body.
First, it all goes back to positioning. It doesn't matter if the pain is in your neck, wrist, heels , or elbow your posture and your body positioning can really affect how your joints work. Working on improving posture will lead to increased strength and support of the body. The TIPS staff spends a lot of time working on behavior change and body positioning. By making this change, you will not only become stronger, but you will position the body in a manner conducive to pain free living.
Second to posture is the importance of improving circulation to these joint areas. When we incur an injury, we tend to slip into a vicious cycle- we are in pain so we don’t want to move. When we don't move, we lose strength and gain stiffness. When we lose strength and become stiff we cause pain… and so it goes. It is essential to break this cycle. TIPS will show you a fantastic approach to stretching that not only works to increase flexibility, but uses muscular contraction to increase blood flow.
Our TIPS staff is able to modify almost any stretch or exercise to make it appropriate for your fitness level as well as pain level. With just a few changes in your daily routine, we can help you improve function of any joint of the body.
